Student Organization of the Month |
As WSOU recently just celebrated its 75th anniversary, the station is the student organization of the month!

|
WSOU 89.5 FM is the University’s award-winning radio station housed within the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media. Operated by a team of student managers, and under the leadership of professional staff, WSOU functions as a learning lab with an array of career-oriented educational experiences. Opportunities for student staff include on-air hosting (DJ), production, promotion, newscasting, sportscasting, programming, sales and marketing, and engineering. WSOU draws participation from each of the University’s Schools and Colleges, including many from communication, business, biology, education, nursing, sports management, and diplomacy.
|
Celebrated for its heritage status and coverage of Seton Hall athletics, WSOU's signal reaches all five boroughs of New York City and much of northern and central New Jersey, with live streaming availability anywhere via iHeartRadio. WSOU was the 2016 winner of the National Broadcasters Association's Marconi Award for Noncommercial Station of the Year and a repeat nominee for the Marconi Award for Best College Radio Station. WSOU also recently won the prestigious New York Press Award for its 2021 election night coverage.
More information about the station can be found online at their website and Facebook.

Brooke Prunier ’23, a senior majoring in Public Relations, has been interning at UpSpring, a small PR agency. When asked about her experiences, Prunier mentioned that “Taking advantage of opportunities at Seton Hall such as PRSSA and the Bateman Competition has helped to build both my confidence and skills through real experience.”
|
Prunier made a point to include “My Seton Hall professors, especially Professor Lancioni and Dr. Schray, have been integral to my experience and have guided and supported me through the PR major and my time as PRSSA president, which has helped me do my best work.”

Practice!
Interviewing is a skill, and it takes practice. Take advantage of resources available to you at Seton Hall to become comfortable and confident in an interview setting: Schedule an appointment with your career advisor for a mock interview, and use Big Interview (which you can access through PirateNet) to record and get feedback on video responses. Don't wait until the day before an interview -- start in advance so that when the time comes, you'll be ready! Remember that every interview, no matter how it goes, can give you practice and insight for the next one.
