Dear TMI Family,
In the coming days we will roll out a new Attendance & Visitor Management System called SchoolPass. It is a comprehensive attendance tracking system which provides near real-time accounting of student locations on campus by simplifying attendance for teachers and empowering students for check-in/out of classrooms. Additionally, SchoolPass Visitor Management allows us to screen, monitor, and track vendors, contractors, and other visitors throughout the day.
What does this mean for your student? The following components will make up the SchoolPass system on our campus:

- “Entry & Exit” Scan Stations: These are in two locations:
- Student Office (Coates 217) - for student late arrivals and early departures.

Welcome Center (Gate) - for visitor screening and badging during school hours (very similar to the current system).

Classroom Scan Stations: These are located in each classroom for students to scan into each classroom as well as scan out for a hall pass (e.g. restroom, nurse, library, etc.).

QR Code Key Tags: Each student will be issued a personalized TMI QR Code key tag and a retractable clip. Note: This tag has their name and a QR Code which only contains the Student’s ID number and no other personal or academic identification information. They will use this tag to scan in and out of locations on campus during the school day. Students are expected to keep this key tag on them at all times throughout the day.

We will launch phase one on Friday, January 5th. Your children will be briefed on this system before the Christmas break, followed by the Key Tag handout on the first day back from the break (Thursday, January 4th) and a subsequent demonstration in advisories.
In phase two, after Spring Break, we will increase SchoolPass functionality by introducing a mobile app feature for parents to utilize which allows streamlined and real-time communication with the school regarding late arrivals and early departures in one platform.
Thankfully, it is very user-friendly and simple to use! We are excited to implement another layer of security to help us keep our community safe.
