Gameday Decorum. We want our athletic contests to be enjoyable for everyone while also allowing our cub pride to shine. We expect proper gameday decorum from our students, players, and fans. This is University High School’s action plan describing consequences for student, player, or fan misconduct prior to, during, or after an athletic contest:
Student:
Entering the field of play constitutes a ban on attending all home games for one calendar year. Suspension ranging from 1-3 days or a possible expulsion recommendation depending on the severity of the offense.
Student misconduct (other than running onto the field of play) as construed by administration:
1st offense: Ban on all home games for 30 calendar days; suspension ranging from 1-3 days or possible expulsion recommendation depending on the severity of the offense.
2nd offense: Ban on all home games for a calendar year; suspension of 3 days or possible expulsion recommendation depending on the severity of the offense.
Player:
Entering an opponent’s team area:
1st offense: Suspension ranging from 1-3 days from school or a possible expulsion recommendation depending on the severity of the act; student suspended for 25% of the remaining athletic contests beginning with the next contest.
2nd offense: Student suspended from playing all sports for one calendar year; student recommended for expulsion.
Fan:
Entering the field of play constitutes a ban on attending all home games for a calendar year.
Fan misconduct (other than running on the field) as construed by administration:
1st offense: Ban on all home games for 30 calendar days
2nd offense: Ban on all home games for a calendar year

Absences: Remember to send in excuses for absences within a week of returning to school. A parent email will be marked as non-exempt excused unless an official excuse is turned in.
|

|
Dress Code Reminder: We would like to remind everyone of the importance of adhering to our school's dress code. The dress code is in place to ensure a respectful and focused learning environment for all students. We appreciate your cooperation in following the dress code, which helps maintain a positive and productive atmosphere at school. This year, the Phoneathon will be held on Wednesday, October 9 at the LSU Foundation. Calls will be made from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. followed by a Happy Hour until 8:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to reach out to fellow parents as a follow up to the materials and messaging sent by the ULS Foundation, to assist volunteer callers with follow up texts, and with administrative tasks during the Phoneathon. Volunteer callers attend a thorough training and are mentored by a team leader.

Parent Literacy Workshop - October 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. For kindergarten parents, parents of new ULS students, parents interested in learning about our K-5 Literacy Progression. You’ll learn strategies to help your beginning readers and writers at home. The natural stages of reading and writing development will be shared. You’ll have an opportunity to learn about the Lab School’s literacy curriculum and preview the resources that are used for instruction. State testing requirements will also be discussed.

Little Cubs Cheer Camp will be held on Saturday, October 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a parent showcase at 11:45 a.m. Participants will receive a camp shirt and the chance to perform at a high school halftime show. The big performance will take place on Thursday, October 10 at Cub Complex. Registrations from the previous date will be honored!

The Steve Carter Tutoring Program provides $1,500 vouchers to families of eligible K-12 public school students per school year. Students in grades 6th - 12th are eligible if they scored below Mastery on the ELA or mathematics LEAP assessment administered in the previous school year.
The digital vouchers can be used to purchase high-quality literacy and math tutoring. Families of eligible students may visit the Steve Carter Tutoring Program Portal to submit an application. Saturdays via Zoom at 10:00 a.m.: ACT/SAT Test Prep Classes. In partnership with Advantage Testing, the Louisiana Center for College Access offers weekly standardized test prep courses. These courses are broken down into four sections: math, reading, science, and English. All Louisiana high school students are eligible to participate in these free, online courses.

Tuesday, October 1 at 6:00 p.m.: Are you Common App Ready?
Are You Common App Ready? Bri Busby, from the Common App will explain how to approach your college applications and discover tools for students and families to help along the way.
Wednesday, October 2, 9, 16, and 23 at 5:00 p.m.: The Louisiana Center for College Access will be offering four extra test prep dates to get you ready for the October 26 ACT test. Register here.
Tuesday, October 8th, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.: NACAC National College Fair. Free and open to the public, National College Fairs are the perfect place to begin or continue your college search. Be sure to use the link to register in advance!

October 10 - PSAT Digital Readiness Check for 10th & 11th grade students. This is required for each student prior to taking the test.

10th & 11th Grade Students - ULS will administer the PSAT test to all sophomores & juniors on Tuesday, October 22nd at 7:45 a.m. Test takers will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Students are asked to make every effort to be present and to arrive on time as there are no make-up tests available. All students have been pre-registered for this test. Each family will be billed $18 or less for the test. See Important Information Regarding PSAT Testing linked below for additional information.
