Maternal & Infant Hospital Teams Simulation Trainings
by Danielle Tate, MD, MPH
Last summer, TIPQC successfully completed its inaugural simulation training event aimed at incorporating simulation training into ongoing efforts to reduce perinatal morbidity and mortality across Tennessee. Simulation training is a vital aspect of healthcare QI as it allows for preparation for unpredictable events that, when they occur, can lead to unwanted adverse outcomes for mothers and infants if not addressed appropriately and efficiently. This form of training has also been proven to increase team performance and communication while reducing risk and is held as a standard of quality care by the Joint Commission and ACOG. Through participation in this
"Train the Trainer Course," birthing hospitals are able to integrate and master simulation training as part of continuing education and are better equipped for emergencies. As the Simulation Training project continues to provide annual statewide training, Tennesseans can be confident in TIPQC’s commitment to assure quality perinatal care from end-to-end.
The meeting will be held LIVE in Nashville at the HCA SIMS LAB, 5380 Hickory Hollow Parkway, Antioch, TN 37013.
Enrollment is limited to ONLY 2 per hospital, and attendance is for ONE day only, with repeating sessions each day.
