Even if you are a born and bred Tucsonan, chances are you've yet to walk the historic
Turquoise Trail, even though you may have frequented many of the downtown sites along its route. Created by the Presidio Trust of Historical Preservation and formerly named the "Presidio Trail", the Turquoise Trail snakes its way throughout over two miles of Tucson's Downtown district along a turquoise colored path to enable walkers to take a self-guided tour of some of downtown's most historic buildings and sites, including Armory Park, Hotel Congress, and the Pima County Courthouse. The trail begins at the northeast corner of the Presidio San Agustin del Tucson Museum and is marked by plaques along the way that tell the stories of Tucson's rich past. Self-guided tour brochures can be found at the Presidio Museum, as well as the AC Marriot, Hotel Congress, Downtown Tucson Partnership and brand-new Southern Arizona Heritage and Visitor Center located on the first floor of the Old Pima County Courthouse. Make sure to also download the
Turquoise Trail app through Vamonde to track your progress and find more facts about each stop.
Museum guided tours are also offered throughout select dates over the year.
