Practical Professional Development - Judge Accreditation System Now Live!
As you’re planning for end of the year tournaments and next season, use the new NSDA Judge Accreditation system to encourage or require judges to complete event training prior to your tournament! The system is now open and offers free learning modules on most speech and debate events. Upon successful completion of each module, judges will be able to download a certificate and claim their badge in Tabroom.com.

Try This - Collect Social Media Handles
Try this tip from our social media team! As you move toward the end of the speech and debate season, ask the coaches in your district to share with you the social media handles (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, etc.) of their school and/or school district. Having these handy makes promoting end of the year successes and festivities much more effective. When you share about an “Of the Year” winner or a student who does well at a tournament, be sure to tag the accounts provided by the coaches so that their district-level media team can join you in celebrating.

Rules Reminder - Speech Rules Infractions
During the district tournament, rules infractions may occur. Before a District Committee decides to disqualify a competitor or a school, please review the Speech Rules Infractions section of the Unified Manual. While these are listed in the National Tournament portion of the manual, they may be used by a District Committee to rule in the case of an infraction. There are five levels of consequences based on the circumstances and magnitude of the infraction. From warnings (level one) to disqualification (level five), District Committees should carefully consider the severity of the infraction and try to apply the most appropriate level. District Committees can learn more about penalty options in the Alternate Penalties at District Tournaments training.
