Student Vaccination Confirmation Portal is Live
Vax LMU, the university’s new vaccination confirmation portal, is now live for students. In preparation for the university's phased return to campus, students are required to provide the university with confirmation showing they have been vaccinated. Vaccination confirmation will be collected by the Student Vaccination Verification Team and will be maintained with the strictest privacy pursuant to federal and state requirements, including the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The system, which is only accessible by necessary authorized persons, is easy to use and can be accessed via computer or mobile phone. Please wait until you have received your final dose before submitting your vaccination record. Scanned or photographed images of vaccination record cards will be accepted. Please ensure your image is clear and legible, and that all vaccination dates are provided.
If you need assistance navigating Vax LMU, please contact the LLS Office of Student Affairs at 213.736.8151 or via email at studentaffairs@lls.edu.
Medical or Religious Exemptions A form will be shared with students in early June to request a medical or religious exemption to the vaccine requirement. Students who are granted an exemption may be required to use additional personal protective equipment or take other actions, such as participating in ongoing testing for the health and safety of the university community.

Vaccinated Individuals Exempt from Surveillance Testing
Effective May 10, all students, faculty, staff, contract staff and others who are fully vaccinated will be exempt from further on-campus surveillance testing. To qualify for this exemption, please upload your vaccination record in the Vax LMU system; the process is quick and can be completed seamlessly from your phone, tablet or computer. To be considered fully vaccinated, two weeks must have passed from the date of your second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
LMU’s testing exemption is driven by new guidance for fully vaccinated individuals issued by the L.A. County Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the county’s low transmission rates, and the low case count and exposures on campus. The university will continue to actively monitor those factors and may reinstate testing requirements if public health guidance changes or if there is a significant surge in cases.

L.A. Moves Into the Least-Restrictive Yellow Tier
The L.A. County Department of Public Health has announced that Los Angeles has moved into California’s least-restrictive yellow tier for COVID classifications. LACDPH has not yet indicated how the change will impact higher education protocols, therefore university policies requiring face masks, physical distancing and other health measures while on campus remain unchanged for the time being. Updates will be shared as soon as revised guidance is provided by LACDPH.

PLAF Asks 'Should Police Engage in Restorative Justice?'
Police departments often treat formal complaints of racial bias in policing primarily as a matter of internal discipline. However, a restorative justice program could serve an important need for citizens who file complaints of police wrongdoing to be heard and that police officers also ensure that their perspective communicated to the public. On Monday, May 24 from 12-1:30 p.m., the Policing Los Angeles Forum will examine whether this is the right course. More>>
