Nebraska Legislature to Reconvene July 20

The Nebraska Legislature will return to session on July 20 to complete its final 17 legislative days.
Bills we are advocating to continue moving forward include:
  • LB780, a bill that was amended to include Senator Hunt's bill for establishing a Creative Districts Program in Nebraska. This bill is on Select File, the 2nd of three stages of debate.
  • LB944, a transportation omnibus bill that contains language to create a "Support the Arts" license plate; it is on Final Reading, the last stage of passage by the Legislature.
Please continue to communicate with your State Senators your support of these bills. You can use our VoterVoice system, under "State Campaigns" to learn more about these bills and email your state senator about them.

Federal Advocacy Update

Congress is considering additional COVID-19 federal assistance. We are advocating support for bills that will help the arts sector impacted by closures. Americans for the Arts, national arts organizations, and state arts alliances such as Nebraskans for the Arts, have signed a joint statement outlining policy options that has been sent to every member of Congress.
You can add your voice to these efforts by clicking HERE and sending a letter to your elected representatives today.
