RECIPE for Rural STEM Day was an absolute success! It was filled with hands-on STEM exploration and exciting learning opportunities for our 5th and 6th grade students throughout Louisiana. With 1403 participants and the valuable support of 125 dedicated community partners, teachers and volunteers, the event surpassed all expectations...

Our local High School Robotics team, The Steel Eagles from Holy Savior Menard, alongside their dedicated mentor Wilson and Director Tonya Shepherd, used their love for science to change Roo's life! The compassion and ingenuity displayed by this extraordinary team in their heartfelt mission to assist Roo, a puppy born without forelimbs, by designing and crafting a custom wheelchair. The Steel Eagles' outstanding efforts have garnered them well-deserved recognition! They were featured on the Nightly News: Kids Edition on January 27, 2024. We are so proud of you all, keep up the great work!

Northwestern State University’s School of STEM will host STEM Day for high school students on Friday, March 1. All students in ninth-12th grades are invited. STEM Day will take place in NSU’s Student Union Ballroom from 8 a.m.-noon.

Teacher Leader Summit 2024 |
The 2024 Teacher Leader Summit is an annual professional learning conference that brings together Louisiana birth to grade 12 educators and content experts. Educators participating in the event will share their knowledge, learn new skills, and prepare for the 2024-2025 school year. It will take place from May 28 - May 30, 2024, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (NOENMCC).

Explore the LDOE Energize Project – a groundbreaking professional development opportunity in collaboration with the Northshore Regional STEM Center, Department of Computer Science, and College of Education at Southeastern Louisiana University. Open to 6th-12th grade Louisiana public and charter school educators, this initiative offers a no-cost path to earning Praxis certification in Computer Science. The project covers workshop registration, the Computer Science (5652) Praxis exam, and provides a $350 stipend upon successful completion.
