Bike to Work Day Is May 15: Register Now
|
|
|
If you haven’t yet registered for Bike to Work Day 2025, now’s the time. The festivities will be on Thursday, May 15.
Be sure to select the downtown Bethesda pit stop when you register. As a registered attendee, you’ll get a cool t-shirt at the event and have access to free drinks, snacks, entertainment, and frequent prize drawings. You can ride solo, bring your family, pedal alongside coworkers or join a convoy.
Registering also enters you into a drawing for a chance to win one of the free bikes donated by BTWD sponsors. There will be a region-wide bike drawing as well as one right here at the Bethesda pit stop.
A big thanks to our sponsors (listed alphabetically): Bethesda Bagels, Bethesda Bike and Ski, Bellringer, Cheltenham Interiors, The Coalition for the Capital Crescent Trail, Commuter Connections, DrinkMore Water, Griffin Cycle, HOTWORX, Just Ice Tea, Mon Ami Gabi, Montgomery County Department of Transportation, Montgomery Planning, Onelife Fitness, Pedego Electric Bikes Maryland, Potomac Pedalers, The Red Bandana Bakery, Ride On, Silver, The St. James, Terrapin Bicycles, and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association.
Plus, a special thanks to Onelife Fitness for offering free showers to Bethesda BTWD registrants. They’re located at 4400 Montgomery Avenue.
Speaking of sponsors, if you’re a business looking for more visibility, BTWD is the perfect opportunity. There’s still time to become a sponsor by donating prizes for the raffle. Contact BTS Director Kristen Blackmon (KBlackmon@bethesda.org; 301-656-0868 x119).

“Cycle to a Signal Box” Contest Winners
|
|
|
Our Cycle to a Signal Box contest generated lots of interest as readers posed for Earth Month selfies with their bike at some of the many artistic signal boxes around downtown Bethesda.
Thanks to all who participated! Congratulations to our four winners, who each received $100 in Bethesda Bucks:

ICYMI: The Bethesda Urban Partnership (BUP) partnered with Montgomery County, the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District and some generous sponsors a while back to wrap 15 signal boxes with artwork designed by artists from our region. The creative boxes have been fun destinations for cyclists taking in downtown Bethesda’s sights.
Special thanks to BUP staff Susanna and Marcus who biked to signal boxes and sent photos to help promote the event!

BTS Advisory Committee Spotlight: Gregory Tullis |
|
|
BTS is grateful for every member of our Advisory Committee for their time, service, and insights. Here is a quick intro to one our newest members.
Greg Tullis joins the BTS Advisory Committee for the first time this month as a resident representative, having been approved by the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board and the Bethesda Urban Partnership board of directors. President/CEO of Tullis Strategic Solutions LLC in Bethesda, he brings the analytical mind of a consultant to his involvement with BTS.
Born and raised in the District of Columbia and educated locally through high school, he headed to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for college then returned to attend the University of the District of Columbia.
Greg built a certified MBE technology firm specializing in enterprise software solutions, Oracle ERP, CRM, supply chain systems, and digital transformation for government and commercial sectors, which has served clients around DMV and beyond for more than two decades.
A former IRS employee and Oracle Corporation alum, Greg has architected and implemented systems for industry leaders such as Humana, Aetna Pharmacy, Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, the Maryland Health Benefits Exchange, and an NFL franchise. His deep expertise in Oracle platforms and enterprise applications allows him to guide complex implementations with a focus on efficiency, stakeholder engagement and long-term sustainability.
Greg’s long-term desire to devote time to community service led him to join the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce. This year, he served on its Legislative & Government Affairs Committee to help move the Chamber’s public policy priorities forward.
During the 2025 Maryland General Assembly session, he particularly focused on three House bills:
|
|
|
- HB1331 (Consumer Protection - Artificial Intelligence), which had a committee hearing but didn’t cross over to the Senate).
-
HB956 (Consumer Protection - Workgroup on Artificial Intelligence Implementation), which passed and was approved by the Governor.
- HB352 (Maryland IT Sales Tax), which passed enrolled (i.e., was amended by the Senate).
| |
|
He is also the visionary behind the Tullis Economic Empowerment Program (TEE) — an initiative designed to train and place underrepresented talent into IT careers and public sector roles.
Greg especially likes downtown Bethesda’s walkability.
“I’m not a huge bike rider,” says Greg, “but I have always wanted to experience living in a community where I can easily walk to everything.”
His favorite businesses to frequent while out walking include Capitol Cigar & Tobacco on Del Ray Avenue, Caddies on Cordell, and — before it sadly closed — Cheeburger Cheeburger.
