Receive Course Credit Toward Your LST Minor for Legal Internships |
Starting this past spring, we launched an exciting new opportunity for students to earn elective credit toward the Law, Science, and Technology (LST) minor through approved legal internships. We recognize the educational value of legal internships, and we are committed to preparing our students for success, both at Georgia Tech and beyond.
This program offers another pathway for you to prepare for law school and a wide range of careers at the intersection of law, technology, and public policy. Connect classroom concepts with hands-on professional experience in legal and policy settings, develop your professional skills, and explore career paths — all while making progress toward completing your LST minor!
Internship eligibility requirements:
|
- You must be a declared LST minor.
- The internship must be unpaid.
- The internship must be current during the semester you are seeking to obtain course credit.
|
If you think your upcoming fall '26 semester internship may qualify, please email LST Director Andy McNeil (wmcneil6@gatech.edu) to discuss approval and how to register for course credit. Phase II registration for Fall 2026 at Georgia Tech runs from Monday, Aug. 17 to Friday, Aug. 28.

| Mock Trial National Championship Tournament |
The Georgia Tech Mock Trial (GTMT) team capped another exceptional season with a return to the American Mock Trial Association's National Championship Tournament (NCT) this April, placing the program among the nation's top 48 teams out of approximately 850.
This marks GTMT's 9th appearance in the NCT since 2016, reflecting the continued strength of the program.
The team's qualification for the NCT followed a successful postseason run and reflected months of preparation and teamwork, during which students showed the critical thinking, advocacy, and analytical skills essential to success in both the competition and public policy practice.
Congratulations to the team on another outstanding season! Tryouts for the GTMT program are held every August.

We want to recognize and thank Professor and Chair Cassidy Sugimoto for her contributions to the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy and the Law, Science & Technology program since joining us in 2021.
As of June 1, Cassidy has begun her new role as dean of Carnegie Mellon’s Dietrich College. Professor Aaron Levine will serve as interim Chair, and a search for the next Carter School Chair will launch in Fall 2026.
Cassidy brought tremendous energy, insight, and leadership to both programs, advancing interdisciplinary collaboration, creating new opportunities for students and faculty, and strengthening connections across law, science and technology, and public policy. A valued colleague and mentor, she has made a lasting difference the lives of those around her. We wish her all the best in this next exciting chapter!
