We are excited to announce that all of our OGSAF award competitions, the Foreign Language and Area Studies awards for Middle East Studies & East Asia studies, and a number of other awards for the next academic year (2025-2026) are now open!

New Graduate Assistant Orientation |
The Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships (OGSAF) will be hosting an online orientation for all new graduate assistants. We will cover topics such as compensation, benefits & support, supervisor relationships, and much more. Make sure to RSVP via the event page linked below. But don't worry! Even if you can't make it, we will be recording the session and posting it on our website.

Additionally, you can visit the OGSAF website below to take a look at our onboarding resources for new graduate assistants. This includes important requirements that must be completed before beginning work, as well as helpful information on compensation and pay timetables to help better plan your finances.

Enhance Your Teaching Skills with UNIV0251! Nominations are open for the Spring 2025 offering of UNIV0251 Advanced Pedagogy for Graduate Lecturers. This free, one-credit virtual course is designed to prepare doctoral students to serve as confident, effective, and student-centered educators.

The course is offered at no cost and complements the Graduate Teaching Assistantship Program (GTAP). While prior GTAP completion is preferred, it's not mandatory – all necessary materials will be provided. Don't miss this opportunity to refine your teaching skills and advance your academic career. NSEP Boren Graduate Fellowships |
The National Security Education Program Boren Fellowship is for graduate students interested in acquiring or strengthening skills in languages critical to US National Security, and is intended for those who are willing to make a commitment to federal service. Graduate Fellows are able to choose their own program or select one of four Flagship Programs. In addition to language learning, Graduate Fellows are encouraged to conduct research, take additional academic courses, and/or pursue internships. There is also an opportunity to be funded for domestic language programs. The maximum award offered for graduate students is $30,000.

Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Program |
The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) fellowship program provides opportunities to doctoral candidates to engage in dissertation research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. The program is designed to contribute to the development and improvement of the study of modern foreign languages and area studies in the United States.
The Fulbright DDRA fellowship program is currently open and taking applications until January 29 2025.

FINRA Foundation Dissertation Completion Fellowship
|
|
|
Stipend: $40,000

The FINRA Foundation Dissertation Completion Fellowship program seeks to expand the pipeline of researchers from historically underrepresented backgrounds in the U.S. professoriate. To achieve that goal, the FINRA Foundation Dissertation Completion Fellowship provides an award of up to $40,000 to advanced doctoral candidates within their last year of Ph.D. dissertation writing to support completion of their dissertation research and writing.
