Dear Cub Parents and Students,

The safety and health of our community, along with academics, have always been our top priorities and will continue to be the driving factors of how we plan and implement our day-to-day operations during and beyond the COVID-19 worldwide health crisis.

Attached you will find the 2021-2022 ULS Return to School Guide, which outlines updated procedures. This plan continues to follow the most current guidance from the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and LSU. Please review this document carefully as there are notable adjustments from last year.

In the short time I have been a part of this community, it has become very clear to me that every day, but especially during difficult times, the Cub family understands that together we are a formidable force. If there was ever a time that called for us to unite, that time is now.

We have two safe and effective tools – masks and vaccinations - to protect the most vulnerable in our community and ourselves. Masks are now required for all individuals on our campus ages 5 and older, and I strongly recommend that all eligible persons within our community get vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccinations are free and readily available on LSU’s campus and throughout our greater Baton Rouge community.

I ask everyone to please do your part so that we may all move toward once again providing a full ULS experience, rich with traditions, for our students.

As we have done throughout, the ULS admin team and I will continue to monitor the progress of the pandemic and are prepared to work with faculty and staff to modify our approach as conditions warrant.

Stay safe Cubs, and I look forward to seeing you all here on campus next week.

Yours in service,
Kevin R. George
