To our TMI students currently enrolled in AP courses:
Re: AP Exams – Update
On Friday, April 3rd, College Board released an update detailing the redesigned at-home testing for this year’s AP exams. If you have not done so already, we encourage you to read the full release at https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/coronavirus-updates. These exams, which will be online and free-response in structure, are scheduled for the weeks of May 11-15 and May 18-22. You can review the full schedule here. Also included in the update is important information about exam length, format and security. College Board is ensuring that the exams are fair to all, both in what course units will be covered and in protecting the integrity of the exam administration.
In late April, College Board will release a test-taking guide, which is expected to provide full instruction on how to access the exams. It will also include information for students with College Board-approved accommodations and they have assured that those will be included in exam administration. We do want to encourage that all TMI students plan on using their laptop or a desktop computer to take their exams.
As stated in the TMI Parent-Student Handbook, students are expected to thoroughly prepare for, and give his/her best efforts in the end-of-year AP exam. For the next several weeks, AP students should continue to concentrate on their coursework and follow their teacher's directives in preparation for exam administration. We recognize that this is a departure from the normal process, but the faculty are ready to help all AP students succeed regardless of the exam format.
Additionally, all AP students are expected to test during the two-week testing window of May 11-22. Any conflicts, which require a request for late testing, must be school-approved. If you foresee a need to request late testing, please contact Diane Alexander, AP Coordinator, at d.alexander@tmi-sa.org.
We will continue to monitor the College Board postings and communicate information and expectations to our AP students. Do not hesitate to reach out to one of us or to your teacher with your questions and concerns as we all navigate this new process together. Again, stay safe, stay healthy, stay on top of your school work, and above all, stay positive.
