Trash to treasure
Each year, the U.S. produces 24 billion barrels of produced water, a byproduct of horizontal oil and gas drilling. To turn this waste into a critical resource, faculty members Ram Mohan and Nagu Daraboina have received $1.5 million from the U.S. Department of Energy.

UTulsa is one of just 30 universities in the country to receive a portion of $14 million in Mellon Foundation grants this year. Sean Latham, director of the Oklahoma Center for the Humanities, was awarded $500,000 alongside MIT, Pitt, Boston University, and others.
