Happy Spring Break! We hope you are enjoying this time between classes. Please note that in the University Center, Starbucks is open from 7 a.m.–3 p.m. through Sunday, March 12. In addition, Pirate Express will now be open from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. today through Friday, March 10.

We continue to highlight the contributions of women in both history and contemporary society. The 2023 theme is "Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” It is also Gender Equality Month which raises awareness against gender bias in society.

Give Them Their Flowers for Women’s History Month
Write a message for an amazing woman on campus and help us build a wall of appreciation in the Galleon Hallway, Lower level of the University Center. You can also write a card to be delivered to them. Help us celebrate the women of SHU. Monday, March 13 through Wednesday, March 15 from 12 to 4 p.m.

Free Tax Return Prep with VITA
In partnership with United Way, Seton Hall’s Tax Lab will be providing FREE tax return preparation services through the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program on March 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Who is Generation Z and How Do We Teach Them?
Born between 1995 and 2015, Generation Z brings its own unique needs and expectations to the higher education campus. Attendees will explore their personal beliefs about this latest population and will gain insight from the latest educational research into how best to teach them. Please bring a mobile phone, tablet, or laptop to the session if you are attending in person. If you are attending on Teams via your laptop, you will need an additional device (mobile phone or tablet) for the interactive portion. March 14, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Fear of Black Consciousness Lecture
On March 15 at 4 p.m. Lewis Gordon, Ph.D., one of the leading scholars working on racism, anti-blackness, and black existentialism, come to campus to speak about topics and arguments in his most recent book, Fear of Black Consciousness (2022).

Save-The-Date! ACE Women’s Network – NJ Spring Conference
The ACE Women’s Network is a statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and advancing women leaders’ professional development in New Jersey colleges and universities. To celebrate Women’s History Month, ACE Women’s Network – New Jersey is proud to sponsor their annual spring conference at Seton Hall University on March 24, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Walsh Gallery exhibit: Matter + Spirit features 25 artists from China and North America, including Lauren Schiller, Professor of Fine Arts. The exhibit runs through April 28 on the first floor of University Libraries.

Las Sufragistas/ The Suffragists
Check out a free screening of Las Sufragistas at the Branch Brook Branch of the Newark Public Library on March 11. In Spanish with English subtitles, the film tells the story of the political struggles of Eufrosina Cruz, an indigenous woman from Oaxaca, Mexico, and the female fight for political power in Mexico.

The Battle Over Women's Suffrage in Newark
Get a big dose of Newark history at this event on March 11, sponsored by the Newark Public Library and the Newark History Society. Presenters George Robb and Noelle Lorraine Williams will speak about the battle over women's suffrage in Newark at this free event.

Women in Hip Hop: History, Activism, and Entrepreneurship
On March 16, join an informative panel discussion on women in hip hop, moderated by HOT 97’s own Lisa Evers. Esteemed panelists include Roxanne Shante (Hip Hop Artist), Robyn Hood (Hip Hop Artist/Actress) and Dr. Oneka LaBennett (Professor, Cornell University).
