Testing for Employees -- Latest News
As we continue to work to protect the health, safety and well-being of our employees, students, patients and residents, new employee testing is starting, as you may have heard. When selected, you'll receive the schedule and details about the testing, which currently will be offered 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
New FAQs Address Commuter Student Testing
How does it work? How long do I wait for results? What if I test positive? New pooled saliva testing for commuter students has raised questions, which we’ve been happy to answer -- on the Student FAQs -- COVID-10 Testing page of our Coming Back Safe and Strong website.
Phase Five Is Just Around the Corner
November 30 marks the start of our final phase of Return to Work. In addition, the extension of the State’s Pilot Telecommuting Program to 1/1/21 provides the framework for continuing remote work arrangements, including staggered days/hours, taking into consideration operational needs, while supporting social distancing.
October 13 Deadline for Telecommuting Exemptions/Alternative Work Assignments
As a reminder, the deadline for faculty and staff who wish to be exempted from working on campus -- including those who want to renew the exemption they requested in the fall -- is Tuesday, October 13. See this message for details.
Don’t Forget Your Flu Shot!
Our next CVS influenza vaccine clinic will be Wednesday, October 21, 1-3 p.m. in the SAC auditorium on West Campus. This is open for all students and employees. Students can also schedule their flu shot with Student Health Services by calling 631-632-6740.
COVID Tracing: There’s an App for That
Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced a new mobile contract tracing app, the use of which is voluntary and anonymous. COVID Alert NY will notify you if you’ve been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The app then encourages users to contact their physician or the State Health Department hotline (1-833-227-5045) to get more information about quarantining and testing. Find out more here.

White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx toured our campus, spoke with leadership, recognized our successes and shared her safety messages during a recent visit to Stony Brook University. ● Wash your hands or use sanitizer when soap and water aren’t available.
● Try to always maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from other people.
● Wear a mask.
● Cover coughs and sneezes and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
● Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your workplace every day.
● Try to avoid using other people's phones, desks, offices, tools and equipment
● Stay home if you’re sick.
