"There's something special about this place."

SCHOOL NOTES FROM MRS. WOODMAN
Dear Families and Friends,
We had a successful open house this morning with the assistance of our Home and School officers, parent volunteers, and National Junior Honor Society members. Sharing the benefits of a CKS education with prospective families is a moment of pride for our staff. We want everyone to experience the “something special about this place” that we feel each day when we walk in the door.
Our strategic planning process is under way with the direction of North Highland Company. All of the teachers, most of the staff, and three parent focus groups have met with our consultants thus far to give them a picture of our current status. More interviews with students, parishioners, alumni, and area educational leaders are scheduled in the coming weeks. This will ensure that our final long-range plan represents consideration of all stakeholders’ perspectives. Thank you to all who have given time toward this forward-looking project so far.
One of the reasons Christ the King is a special place is the strong sense of community. We have opportunities this month to build on this strength. Coming up soon is the Eighth Grade Chili Cook-off and Volleyball Tournament on November 18. This is a family event that supports the eighth grade class trip to Washington D.C. in the spring. Come and join the fun with your children’s classmates and their families. I would love to see you there! Also, invitations for Grandparents Day on November 21 were mailed this week. If you know of someone who should receive one who wasn’t on our list, it’s not too late to call the office and let us know. We welcome all grandparents and grandfriends for that celebratory day.
I look forward to meeting next Monday at 1:45 with anyone who wishes to be part of the Catholic Schools Week Committee, who plans and executes the celebration of our school’s Catholic identity. Then on Friday morning at 8:00, I will meet with the class representatives for Home and School. Please send your class rep any questions or suggestions you would like for them to present at the meeting.  Thank you for all you do to support CKS.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sherry Woodman
