An upgrade at Hopkins Park in Haddonfield represents a $325,000 investment by Camden County. But Mayor Dave Siedell sees it more poetically as a triumph over tragedy.
He noted that a powerful storm on July 4, 2023 blew down approximately 400 trees in the forested park along Hopkins Lane. Now, the hardest-hit area holds a gazebo, picnic tables and other amenities.
The landscaped project includes an eight-sided gazebo, brick-paver walkways, picnic areas and other improvements. This site's expected to hold its first community event with a Flag Day celebration and pick-up band concert at 3:30 p.m. June 14. It could also host movie nights and other attractions, said Camden County Commissioner Colleen Bianco Bezich, a former borough mayor.

After surviving two near-fatal car accidents and spending decades watching skateboarders pushed out of public spaces, Skate AC founder Jason Klotz says his mission has never felt more urgent.

Now, with the help of newly appointed president Rohan Marley, the Atlantic City-based nonprofit is preparing to expand far beyond Atlantic County — bringing skate parks, youth programming and safe community spaces to underserved neighborhoods across the country and, eventually, around the globe.
Klotz shared that the organization’s mission has shifted from focusing solely on Atlantic City to a broader effort to bring skate parks and youth recreation spaces to underserved communities across the country and eventually, around the globe.

Bridgeport Motorsports Park remains open and continues to host weekly racing events, but a recent approval could eventually transform the property into a large-scale Copart vehicle storage facility capable of accommodating approximately 4,467 vehicles.
Originally opened in the early 1970s, Bridgeport “Speedway” Motorsports Park is a progressive high-banked dirt oval racetrack located in Logan Township, Gloucester County. Copart is a nearly $5 billion company specializing in online vehicle auctions serving insurance companies, rental car fleets, financial institutions, and other automotive industry clients.
The proposed layout would encompass the current racetrack areas, much of the existing parking lots, and surrounding tractor-trailer storage sections. The project will also see the development of an office area, a customer/employee parking area, as well as storm water management aspects.
