Chief Justice of Iowa Supreme Court to Speak About Career Journey, Life Balance

Join us for a conversation with Susan Larson Christensen, Chief Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court, from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27 in Robinson Courtroom (AC-102). Chief Justice Christensen will share her background and journey to the Supreme Court, insight to a legal practice career, and the independence of the judiciary, all while balancing family demands. Q&A to follow.

Legal Research and Writing Faculty to Host Discussion on AI

The Legal Research and Writing (LRW) faculty will welcome Professor Rebekah Hanley, University of Oregon School of Law, for two discussions on AI and the future of legal writing on Friday, Sept. 29. From 12-1 p.m., Hanley will give the ALWD Distinguished Speaker Faculty Workshop, "Transforming Legal Writing Education: Opportunities and Responsibilities in the Age of Generative AI," in the Faculty Workshop Room (Rains 210), and from 5-6 p.m. will give the ALWD Distinguished Speaker Student Workshop, "AI and the Future of Legal Writing: Tools, Challenges, and Best Practices" in Merrifield Hall.

Celebrate Constitution Day with Conversation with Prof. Justin Levitt

Professor Justin Levitt studies the Constitution’s commitment to democracy and has put it into practice in positions outside of school, working with nonprofits, at the Department of Justice, and in the White House. On the eve of the country’s 250th birthday, join us for a Constitution Day conversation that couldn’t be more timely. The discussion will run 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, in Robinson Courtroom. Lunch will be provided.
