Say Thanks to a DSP!

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Appreciation Week is September 10–16, 2023 and we need your help to make it the best DSP Week ever!  Please submit a video message or a thank you card for a DSP who has shown you or a loved one support this year.  “Thank you!” messages can be sent to us as video messages or electronic and/or standard mail thank you cards.  
Video messages and electronic cards can be emailed to Laura.Perez@arcmontmd.org or sent via text to Laura-Kate Perez at 240.921.6121 or mailed to 7362 Calhoun Place, Rockville, MD 20855 attn: Laura-Kate Perez.  Please send your thank you no later than September 6, 2023.

Strategic Planning Implementation Progress

We are moving the dial on the Strategic Planning opportunity areas!  Work Groups have been working hard to provide recommendations on ways we can move forward to reach our goals in the six opportunity areas outlined in the 2023-2025 plan.

Reading with Robert 

The children at KFICCC had a special treat when news anchor Robert Burton from WJLA News visited the school and read a story to them as part of the Reading with Robert segment for 7News.  Surrounded by children, Robert read a school favorite, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin.

The Arc on Channel 16's "Solutions"

Catch Daria Cervantes, CEO, and Stephanie Benedetti, CDO, on Montgomery Municipal Cable MMCTV Channel 16's new show Solutions on Thursday, September 6!
They sat down with host Cheryl Hawkins to share about the support services The Arc Montgomery County has provided county residents for 65 years and how the community can connect with our mission.

FCIDD Classic Golf Tournament

Fore!  Join other golf enthusiasts on Friday, October 6 for the Whitfield E. Mallory FCIDD Classic Golf Tournament.  The Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FCIDD) established the tournament to honor long-time foundation Treasurer, Whit Mallory. The 18-hole event will be held at Clifton Park Golf Course in Baltimore and the field is open to 120 golfers with a shotgun start at 8 am. 
FCIDD funds medical research to benefit those living with IDD. Funds raised in this tournament will be directed to assisting in the building of new Civitan Clubs and to further research at the Civitan International Research Center.

Fitness and Recreation Opportunities for All Ages!

Summer might be almost over but that doesn't mean your fitness activities have to stop.  There are many opportunities in the county to stay active, be social, and remain physically fit.  
For adults, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation in collaboration with the Washington Area Cyclist Association will be offering adult bike and scooter classes in September, October, and November. The cost is $10, and helmets and bikes are included but registration is required.

Fall County Rec Programs

Montgomery County Recreation has opened up registration for its fall programs and activities.  Some activities include Bone Builders, Day Trippers, and Senior Outdoor Adventures in Recreation (SOAR). And don't forget all Montgomery County Residents can get a free rec pass at any Montgomery County Community Recreation Center.  Make the most of the opportunities offered in Montgomery County.

Fall Fitness Festival 

Give your physical fitness goals a boost by attending the Fall Fitness Festival sponsored by the Ivymount School in Potomac.  On Sunday, October 1 from 1 to 4 pm, you can participate in fitness activities, enjoy music, enter a raffle, and maybe get an award.
