St. George Island Home Tour Feb. 14
The St. George Island Tour of Homes will be held Feb. 14, 2015. The tour features distinctive homes from beach to bay. Watch a video tour here. Exploring Color from Cool to Warm with Natalia Andreeva
February 20-22, 2015 9-4pm.
This workshop is designed to get a feeling for light and color and to get some hands on experience with a palette. Click here for more information. 
Machine Piecing a Traditional Quilt Block February 25, 9-4pm. This workshop will teach no-template piecing techniques to make a three block table runner or wall art. At the end of this one day class the top should be finished and ready to be quilted at another time. 
See it, Say it, Paint it with Katie Dobson Cundif March 9-12, 9-4pm. Learn to paint faster, looser, and more confidently in this four day workshop while learning to accurately see larger abstract shapes, values, and color. Daily Demos-Discussions-Individual Painting Time-One on One Critiques. 
Painting the Head in Oil with Dawn Whitelaw March 15-18, 9-4pm. In this 4 day workshop, Dawn will be teaching basic principals of portraiture. This class will include lecture, power point presentations, demonstration, and critiques. There will be lots of individual help at easels as the student starts three portrait studies.

Authors In Apalach March 13-14
The Apalachicola Muncipal Library will host the 2015 Authors in Apalach event March 13-14 at the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art. This year’s event theme is “Contemporary Women Writers of the South” and will feature celebrated authors Janis Owens, author of classic Southern Fiction and the “Cracker Kitchen” and River Jordan, playwright, memorist and radio personality. Also featured will be Joyce LaFray, cookbook and food author, Susan Cerulean, environmental writer from Tallahassee; Faith Eidse, Tallahassee teacher, author of “Voices of the Apalachicola”, Mary Jane Ryals, Poet Laureate of the Big Bend (2009-2012);  Memoirist Kimberly Cross Teter, first time author of “Isabella's Libretto”  and Adrian Fogelin, Tallahassee author of "Crossing Jordan." The event kicks off with a reception Friday, March 13. On Saturday, March 14, the event will be from 10AM to 5PM, with authors signing and selling books. Click here to learn more.
SGI Charity Chili Cookoff March 7
St. George Island will host its annual Charity Chili Cookoff and Auction March 6. Activities include a golf tournament, 5K Red Pepper Run, Chili Cook-off, Auction and the naming of Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce. All proceeds benefit the Island Volunteer Fire Department and First Responder Unit. Click here to learn more.
Annual Eastpoint Charity Rib Cookoff March 21
The Annual Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department Charity Rib Cookoff will be held Saturday, March 21th at the fire house in Eastpoint, Florida at Vroom Park. In addition to spirited rib competition, this year's event will include  a carnival. BBQ dinners will be served from 11:00 am till it’s all gone.Click here for details. 

Chef's Sampler Feb. 8
On February 8, chefs from all over the Forgotten Coast will prepare their most creative dishes at the historic Fort Coombs Armory located on 4th street and Avenue D in Apalachicola. Sample an array from our area restaurants. Our talented shopkeepers and local designers give the event an extraordinary touch and add creative flair by decorating each table individually. African American History Festival
Feb. 20-22
H'COLA's 12th Annual African-American History Festival will be held Feb. 20-22, 2015. This event is a celebration of African-American history, life, music and culture. This outdoor, family-oriented event is filled with varied artists and entertainers, children "activities, arts, history, education, health & wellness and more." There will be live entertainment throughout the two day event. Admission is always free. The event is held in Apalachicola at Franklin Square 6th Street between Avenues L&M. Daytime Astronomy: Sunspots  February 15th to 28th (Weather permitting) - 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The sun is the earth’s most stable energy source.  For two weeks we will observe the movement, quantity, and development of sunspots.
Camp Gordon Johnston World War II Trainings on SGI Saturday, February 21 - 9:00 a.m. Come out and learn how St. George Island was used to train a quarter of a million soldiers from Camp Gordon Johnston during World War II.  
Alligators Saturday, February 28 - 9:00 a.m. Learn about the amazing American alligator that has been around since prehistoric times.   
ANERR Hosts Snake Lecture
The Apalachicola National Research Reserve will host a nature talk Feb. 18 at 2 pm at the Reserve Visitor center located at 108 Island Drive in Eastpoint. The Feb. 18 talk will be on snakes found in North Florida. Click here for details.

Mardi Gras Feb. 14
Join in on the Franklin County Mardi Gras Festivities on February 14 as the Franklin County Habitat for Humanity hosts its annual Mardi Gras benefit celebration in Apalachicola. The group will host a Mardi Gras Dinner and Ball on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 pm. The group will also host a parade Friday evening (Feb. 13) before the ball. Click here for details. Panhandle Players Perform Death by Design 
The Panhandle Players will present Death by Design over two weekends in Franklin and Gulf Counties.  See the show at February 13th - 15th at the Eastpoint Firehouse.  Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and matinee performances begin at 3 p.m. ET.  Doors open 30-minutes prior to showtime.  Watch a promo video here.

Lighthouse Climb
The St. George Lighthouse will host a full moon climb Feb. 3 from 6-7:30 pm. The March Full Moon Climb date is March 5. Climb to the top of the Cape St. George Light to watch the sunset and the rise of the full moon. The Sunset/Full Moon Climb includes light hors d'oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the full moon.  Cost is $15.00 for the general public and $10.00 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. Apalachicola Artwalk March 21
Art in all forms will be woven in and around picturesque downtown Apalachicola on March 21 during the annual artwalk event where artists and musicians will be showing, selling, and demonstrating their talents from 11:00-6:00 pm.  The festivities continue into the evening with a wine tasting at 3:00 pm.  Afterwards area chefs will prepare dishes at their restaurants pared with special wines.
