Student Spotlight
Colby Child
Meet Colby Child! He’s a geography major and Solutions Scholar. "I grew up in a small neighborhood in Northern Michigan where natural places were my playground. At 11 years old I moved to Utah. I attended charter schools all the way through High School. Often being stuck in a land of asphalt and concrete, I value the time I get to spend outside of the city. Our community is in need of more people with the necessary skills and wisdom to implement creative solutions to our most difficult problems. I like Geography because it has a spatial systems approach to science.  I am interested in how spatial analysis with the help of GIS can help us better understand our relationship to ecosystems and how we can sustainably and elegantly exist within them. I am really enjoying my studies so far and look forward to research opportunities in the future and postgraduate education."
Meet Your Online Instructor: Dr. Paul H. White

Dr. Paul H. White is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology whose research focuses on three major social psychology topics—persuasion, prejudice/ethnic issues, and performance—in order to answer the question, “what motivates behavior?”
A recipient of multiple Psi Chi teaching awards here at the U, including Overall Best Psychology Professor (2001), Most Humorous Psychology Professor (2001), and Most Compassionate Professor (1999), as well as the Department of Psychology’s Graduate Committee Teaching Commendation (2006), Prof. White is a popular instructor who recently redeveloped the online section of PSY 2010 (Psychology as a Science and Profession) –a course that also features his prize collection of humorous t-shirts!

University Food Drive
  • Food Donations: Monday, November 11- Saturday, November 23
  • Cash Donations: Monday, November 11 - Saturday, November 30

Every year the University of Utah’s Student Alumni Board hosts a University Food Drive to collect non-perishable food items and cash donations that will be given to the Utah Food Bank, which will then be redistributed to the university’s Feed U Pantry! This year the Food Drive will be held from November 11 to November 23, with monetary donations remaining open until November 30.
Studies have shown that approximately 36% of university students are considered "food insecure," meaning they don't get as much to eat as recommended. Thus, the primary goal is to help students in our own community at the U receive three meals a day.
