NYU Shanghai Celebrates the Class of 2022

NYU Shanghai honored some 400 graduates from NYU Shanghai and other NYU degree-granting campuses in a virtual ceremony in May. Graduates hailing from 34 countries and regions tuned in along with friends and family at 20:22 China Standard Time to celebrate the conclusion of their NYU Shanghai journeys. “We may not have a choice when the pandemic may end, and when life can get back to normal, but we always have a choice in the attitude that we have towards challenges and difficulties. Such an attitude will be the foundation from which you build on your future. And the hardships you face today may one day prove to be the best training program for a stronger you,” said Commencement speaker and Winter Olympic Champion Yang Yang.

NYU Shanghai Reopens After Lockdown, Move to New Campus Delayed to Early 2023

As the City of Shanghai continues to emerge from its two-month long COVID-19 lockdown, with restaurant dining rooms, museums, sports venues, and other public indoor venues all coming back online, NYU Shanghai has been preparing for the return of its student body - including some 800 international students - to campus next month.

Class Notes

Julie Flood Hauge ’17: “Incredibly excited to announce that myself, along with my incredible teammates, won first place in the CFA Society Philadelphia Research Challenge and will now go on to represent Fox School of Business at Temple University at the America’s Sub-Regional competition in March!”
Gu Sheng ’17:“I am working for Roche China in the team of integrated access strategy, committed to promoting patient benefit via Roche's innovative therapies.”
Yan Yilun ’17: “I’ve been working in a Fintech company FNZ for 4.5 years. I’m currently working as a solution consultant in their Finland office. My job is to provide digital solutions for wealth management services for our financial institution clients.”
Kadallah Burrowes ’18: “I am working on applying the principles of decentralization to technology, governance, and creativity to empower artists and activists to collectively take action to produce lasting change. Though their itchy feet still have them roaming the globe, they're in the process of putting roots down in Kenya. Listen to my recent podcast on the intersection of art & technology here.”
Alice Yin ’18: “After graduating from NYUSH, I pursued my Master degree at Johns Hopkins University and then worked at Moody’s headquarter in New York. I presented and defended on my Continuous Innovation Improvements (C2I) project during the Department Global Town-Hall to a 700+ audience. In July 2021, I did an internal transfer to SH office to continue my career at Moody’s. Currently, I am serving as a Product Strategist in the Structured Finance market.”
Chen Ran ’18: “After working in Deloitte China as a consultant focusing on commercial due diligence and strategy consulting for 3 years, I'm currently a master student in University of Pennsylvania studying Behavioral Sciences.”
Zhao Jinyu ’19: “I completed my master's degree in Machine Learning at UC San Diego last year and have been working as a Software Engineer at eBay for the next 6 months. I recently got promoted as an Applied Researcher working on formulating and tackling industrial problems using machine learning. So far I really enjoyed my life in California. There's a great variety of natural landscapes as well as beautiful cities for me to take photography. Please check out this link for my selected photos taken in 2021."
Xiang Jiaqiao ’20: “I am currently working for McKinsey & Company as a generalist Business Analyst in the Shanghai office.”
Ling Yuheng ’20: “After my graduation in 2020, I took a year gap working with NYU Shanghai Library, now I am back to NYC and pursuing the master's degree on Operations Research at Columbia University.”
