Spark of STEM!


This week's Spark of STEM is a science experiment you can try right in your own home! "Mrs. B" is a 4th generation NC Public School teacher with a strong commitment to her students that brought her to social media when her school closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mrs. B has used TikTok to engage her students by showing quick and easy STEM activities they can try on their own. Her videos ended up catching the attention of people all over the world. Mrs. B now has over 2 MILLION followers inspired by her STEM content!

Spark of STEM is meant to ignite STEM inspiration by showcasing awesome tips, activities, and fun created by teachers, students, and STEM-influencers.

It's Women's History Month!


Join us for the month of March as we learn about women, past and present, who have made an impact in STEM! Today we learn about Astronaut Christina H. Koch! Christina H. Koch was selected as an astronaut by NASA in 2013.  She completed astronaut candidate training in July 2015.  Koch graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Physics and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.  Koch most recently served as flight engineer on the International Space Station for Expedition 59, 60 and 61. Koch set a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman with a total of 328 days in space.
