More Google and Box Accounts
to be Deleted in June |
|
|
Did someone you worked with leave the University within the last year? You may have content in danger of being deleted.
According to the Account Lifecycle policy (est. 2024), Google and Box accounts owned by people who leave the University are deactivated, and the OIT is preparing to delete thousands of these deactivated accounts.
⚡️ Here's a breakdown of what's happening:
|
- 📆 Roughly 13,000 Google and 7000 Box accounts will reach 365 days since they were deactivated and will be deleted this June.
- 🗑️ These accounts have been marked Delete__NetID or [Pending Deletion].
-
‼️ The data from these accounts will be deleted. To retain data in these accounts you must move the contents to a shared drive.
- đźš« The OIT will not reactivate these accounts or transfer any data from them.

- Request an Alumni Gmail account through the Notre Dame Alumni Association
- Change your student NetID to a personal email address for accounts such as bank, social media, Paypal, Venmo, Apple ID, YouTube, etc.
- Remove Notre Dame licensed software from your computer (Office 360, Adobe, etc.)

Email Security Tool Enhancement
Have you recently reported a potential phishing message from your inbox and wondered what happened next? A new feature of the email security solution introduced in November will let you know what the investigation found!
The email security solution does a great job of keeping scam messages from hitting inboxes, but sometimes something phishy can still get through. So, reporting anything that seems suspicious is an important way to keep Notre Dame safe.
