Dear SURVIVORS Supporter,
Today, on World Refugee Day, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary strength and resilience of refugees around the world, particularly those who have survived the unimaginable horrors of torture.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimates that there are now over 32 million refugees worldwide. It is also estimated that 44% of refugees and asylum seekers have endured torture, and Amnesty International has reported torture being carried out in 141 countries, or 75% of the world. World Refugee Day serves as a powerful reminder that behind every statistic and news headline, there are individuals with unique stories of survival and hope.
At SURVIVORS, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive support and healing services to those who have survived torture. Our organization believes in the power of holistic care, offering a range of services such as medical and mental health treatment, asylum support, and social support to help survivors regain their independence and find a sense of belonging in their new communities.
Today, I invite you to join us in raising awareness and advocating for the rights and well-being of refugees and survivors of torture. With a staggering 110 million displaced individuals around the globe today, the need for our work continues to grow. Together, we can create a more compassionate and inclusive world, where the journey of healing and hope is available to all those who have experienced the unimaginable.
Thank you for your unwavering support. Let us continue to stand together and make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
