Professor Eric Miller, co-director of the Loyola Anti-Racism Center, led a discussion about reparations for the Tulsa Race Massacre. Prof. Miller has long advocated on behalf of the descendants of victims, including testifying as part of the panel “Continuing Injustice: The Centennial of the Tulsa-Greenwood Race Massacre" before a U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary subcommittee. The recording will be shared when available.

DEI Associate Joe Bernardo and Resident Director Jamal Epperson lead the LMU Anti-Racism Workshop series that consist of the four I's of racism: intrapersonal, interpersonal, institutional and ideological. Go Move Challenge (Feb. 1-28)
Calling all faculty and staff! Help LMU/LLS win the 10th-annual Go Move Challenge by recording your minutes of intentional physical activity that gets the heart pumping to determine which Jesuit institution is the most active. Awards go to the university that tracks the most minutes, the university that averages the highest number of minutes per participant, and the university with the highest average number of minutes per region. With this week's return to in-person instruction, we share below some important reminders culled from recent communications, including the Jan. 21 LLS This Week Express and the Jan. 19 Note from the Dean.
- Boosters: Eligible community members are required to obtain their COVID-19 booster within one month of eligibility. Upload your booster record in VaxLMU using your phone or tablet.
- Testing: A negative COVID test or attestation to having had COVID-19 in the prior 90 days is required before returning to campus for the first time for the spring semester. Students must upload a negative test result or attestation here.
- Masks are required to be worn at all times in all indoor public spaces of the LLS campus. Students, faculty and staff should wear surgical or medical grade masks while on campus. LLS Campus Community members may obtain masks meeting these criteria at the Information Center, Career Development Office, Office of Student Affairs and William M. Rains Library. Library patrons will receive warnings for not masking, with three warnings resulting in loss of privileges.
- The LLS COVID Testing Center is open this week with day and evening hours.
- If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, are currently being tested or have tested positive for COVID-19, contact the COVID Support Team immediately at COVIDSupportTeam@lmu.edu or 310.568.6868.
- Contact tracing: The COVID Support Team handles contact investigation and communication with positive, symptomatic or exposed individuals. Contact tracing is conducted for every individual who is lab-confirmed COVID positive and has been on the LLS or any LMU campus during the period in which they were infectious. More information is available in the Need-to-Know A-Z Index.
- Updated isolation/quarantine guidelines are available.
- The LLS Shuttle is running on its regular schedule. Riders must wear masks.
- The William M. Rains Library is open 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Friday. Sonia’s Café is open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday.
