Commuter Connections Employer Recognition Awards
Each year, Commuter Connections (part of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments) recognizes companies around the Washington region who are doing great things for their employees to help them get out of their cars and onto transit or into carpools and telework. Commuter Connections is currently seeking nominations for their Annual Employer Recognition Awards for companies who are leaders in the following categories:
  • Incentives - Providing benefits that make using alternative transportation modes easier, and more attractive to employees, than driving alone, including the following:
    •  transit and vanpool subsidies
    •  pre-tax transit and vanpool passes
    •  preferred or discounted parking for carpools and vanpools
  • Marketing - Developing creative methods to promote alternative commuting options to employees.
  • Teleworking - Initiating or enhancing a successful telework program for employees.
Bethesda has a proud tradition of nominating many companies for regional recognition. If you would like for your company to be considered, please contact Jennifer Zucker at BTS - jzucker@bethesda.org 301-656-0868 X118.  Jennifer will help you draft your company’s nomination using information in your Traffic Mitigation Plan. The deadline for nominations is February 3, 2017!
Montgomery County Launches Snow Information Site
Although we have been spared from snowy days so far this winter, there is no doubt that it is in our future at some point. Use these clear days to prepare by exploring Montgomery County's Winter Storm Information Site.
The site allows you to find out which government agency is responsible for plowing your street, submit a request for service, and check snow removal status.  You can also check on delays or closings, as well as the status of public transit.

Try Telework!
The events in Downtown Washington leading up to the inauguration on January 20 brings an estimated two million people to the area and can create havoc on your work schedule.
This year, why not skip the hassle and try telework?
Telework allows you to work at home, so the only commute you have to worry about is the one from your home coffee pot to  your home office!
Planning ahead to telework is an  important part of telework's success, so ask your manager today if you can telework on January 20.
