Winter Quarter 2022 Updates

Including: remote-only instruction to start; staggered re-populaton thereafter; booster shot mandate

Dear Tritons,

We know that the pandemic continues to challenge us – yet, you have the resilience and the support to navigate another bump in this journey. We’re going to get through this together.

As you are likely aware, UC San Diego announced yesterday that Winter Quarter 2022 will begin with remote-only instruction and an incremental campus repopulation plan to stave off the spread of the Omicron variant in our community.

Earlier today, our university also reinforced that under existing UC-wide policy, students, faculty, and staff are required to keep their vaccination status up-to-date with a booster shot – meaning that COVID-19 boosters are mandated for those who are eligible.

What do I need to do?

We know that there’s a whole lot happening at the moment, and that you deserve a break.

At this time, we’re only asking a few things of you (and if you’re reading this, you’re already doing one of them!).

During Winter Break, we urge you to:

Check (and read) your campus email for further important updates; and
Get boosted if you’re eligible to do so.
