ESD 105 Secures New Conference Space for Future Events!
|
We are excited to share that we have just signed the contract to purchase a new building across from Miller Park in Yakima, Washington!
Over the last few years, our programs have seen exponential growth, leading to an expansion in the number of large-scale events we offer and a greater need for office and direct service early learning classroom spaces.
We have recently signed a contract to purchase a 39,276 square foot complex with two separate onsite buildings in Yakima, Washington. This complex spans the length of a city block, boasting two large conference rooms, rooms that will be remodeled for breakout sessions, a prime location and ample parking for large conferences.
We are confident this new space will make a great addition to our agency and look forward to sharing progress as we renovate this space over the course of the next couple of school years. We can't wait to welcome you to an event here soon!

OSSI Outreach for Elementary Principals
|
Reminder for all elementary principals who are currently identified for Tier 3 Plus, Tier 3 and Tier 2 Supports....
One aspect of being included in OSSI's realm of support is an expectation to attend the twice-a-year event titled 'Outreach.' An Outreach is an additional venue for OSPI to provide professional learning, engage in critical two-way dialogue with districts and schools identified for Tier 3 Plus, Tier 3, and Tier 2 supports, communicate key technical assistance (e.g., requirements, submission dates, data releases, etc.), and answer questions.
In years past, Outreach was a single day event delivered via Zoom. For 2023-2024, ESD 105 is transitioning back to an in-person Outreach. With 60 schools identified within our region, we have decided to provide specific offerings based on school types, in order to more effectively deliver specific information, spotlight support opportunities, and to facilitate discussions and dialogue between schools providing service to students in the same grade bands.
Our elementary offering will take place at ESD 105 on Wednesday, October 4th from 8:30 a.m. - 12: 00 p.m. Doors will open at 7:45 a.m. for coffee, snacks and networking. We are asking that elementary school principals who have been identified for Tier 2 and 3 supports bring a small team consisting of 2-3 individuals from their building for this event.
A couple of our Outreach segments will be influenced by information we're asking you to provide via a Google Form. Our overarching goal for this year is listening to you and structuring support based on your needs, aspirations, and requests. This Google Form is our first step towards that goal. I hope you will consider investing 5 - 10 minutes to provide us with your thoughts. This link will open the Google Form 'Pre-Outreach Survey for Building Principals.'

National School Public Relations Association: Now Accepting Nominations for 2023 Superintendents to Watch Award
|
Each year, the National School Public Relations Association's Superintendents to Watch awards recognize up to 25 district leaders who have fewer than five years of experience as a superintendent and who demonstrate dynamic, fast-paced leadership with strong communication at its core. In the last two years, two superintendents from our region have been recognized with this presitgous award: Dr. Trevor Greene of Yakima Public Schools and Dr. Joseph Castilleja of Mabton School District.
We'd love to be able to honor another superintendent in our region for going above and beyond to engage students, staff, families and community partners. We encourage educational leaders to nominate their peers for this award. Our ESD 105 public relations and marketing department will help provide support for these nominations.

Implementation for the revised Student Growth Goal Rubrics will be required during the 2024-2025 school year. During the 2023-2024 school year school districts will be given a "year of preparation" to plan and prepare for this implementation.
Join us for an overview of the revised Student Growth Goals resources. We will share videos that provide an overview of changes, vignettes that illustrate the kind of instruction supported by these new growth goals, as well as other additional tools and resources.
This is a great opportunity to work with other administrators throughout our region to discuss implementation plans and procedures.
