Spread the Joy, Trojan Style💌 |
|
| |
Tuesday, February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day! Here's a quick FYA challenge: Spread some Trojan kindness by doing one small act. It can be anything - send an encouraging text, hold the door, thank a professor or advisor, or simply check in on a friend. Small gestures can make a big difference!
Bonus points if you share it with us on Instagram and tag @USCDornsifeAdv so we can spread the joy. Let's make campus a little brighter together!

Cooper Brown is a senior double major in East Asian Area Studies and Communication whose academic excellence and global experiences reflect a deep commitment to service, intercultural engagement, and inclusive storytelling. Driven by a passion for language, media, and cross-cultural connection, Cooper has pursued opportunities that bridge education and global awareness both inside and outside the classroom. Last semester, while studying abroad at Sophia University in Tokyo, he volunteered with World Vision Japan, supporting their Summer School program and working with Japanese elementary school students on activities addressing global issues such as poverty and child labor. Through language immersion, cultural exchange, and humanitarian work, Cooper embraced his final days abroad with curiosity, humility, and purpose—turning his international experience into one rooted in meaningful service.

“Momentum has a way of carrying you somewhere meaningful.”
|
When asked for advice to freshmen, Cooper shared: “As a first-year and beyond, you’ll face a lot of unfamiliar situations where you begin to question your own capability or readiness. When that happens, my advice is to make your body move before your mind catches up and convinces you not to try something new. In my experience, momentum has a way of carrying you somewhere meaningful.”
