Why Conference?
By: Dr. Steven Goodwin
"Output without input equals kaput!"
It has been 20 years since I heard conference speaker Dale Schlafer repeat that little aphorism. I still smile when the truth of that bit of wisdom smacks me upside the head. It captures for me the continual struggle of the professional life, which goes a bit like this:
Day after day, I draw so deeply and so often from the same well of knowledge and experience acquired through my training and my professional practice that after a while I find myself getting stale. I get tired of hearing myself say and do the same things over and over again. I desperately crave new ideas, fresh methods and cutting-edge techniques that would replenish the well of my expertise. I need the input of new thought.

March Webinar: Under the Radar: Exploring Beliefs and Assumptions
Presented by: Barbara B. Adams, PsyD
Thursday, March 24, 2016
12 PM ET/11 AM CT/9 AM PT
Duration: 90 Minutes
Today's workforce is multigenerational, multicultural and varied in myriad dimensions of difference. The values inherent in Organizational Development have never been more relevant or needed in developing diverse, inclusive workplaces. People behave in alignment with their beliefs and assumptions — and this is true of OD practitioners too. Yet, with the increasingly frantic pace of work and life, how often do we spend time honestly looking within, to see how our thoughts and beliefs effect our interactions with clients and others. Use of self is core to success in the practice of OD. Come explore in a safe environment, key questions to spur insightful thinking that will further enhance the value you provide to others. Learn a new lexicon for inclusion that you can take and leverage in today’s multidimensional workplace environments.

February Chair Chat: A Sold Out Success
By: Lori Blander
Chair Chat is a new, monthly OD Network event that offers an opportunity for our members to engage with our Board Chair and other members of the Board of Trustees. We discuss hot topics in our field and ask OD-related questions that are important to you and submitted by you. In February, Chair Chat filled up with a diverse group of OD practitioners who met online for one hour to have a face-to-face discussion about the topics submitted by our participants, such as change readiness assessments of choice and how to best incorporate OD theory as an HR specialist.
Participants were engaged and loved the opportunity to interact with other practitioners faced with the same questions.
Want to attend our next Chair Chat? Register today to on March 21 at 4 PM EST.
March Member Spotlight: Wendy Fraser, Ph.D.
Wendy Fraser, Ph.D., OD Network Member, President and Chief Inspiration Officer for Fraser Consulting, LLC
My first OD Network conference I attended was in 1997 where I soaked in the enormity of the field and learned from current and sage practitioners. I love coming to OD Network conferences to learn, engage with colleagues and leave with renewed energy and ideas to serve my clients.
After working in government for 18 years and several years as an internal OD practitioner within state agencies, I took a leap of faith and launched full-time into my OD consultancy practice, which I had started part-time in 2002. Most of my OD work is with connecting public sector administrators with the citizens they serve, but I have worked in every sector and several countries. I love the variety that OD work brings and I feel challenged to keep my skills fresh.
Organization Member Spotlight: Intel Corporation
For over 35 years, Intel Corporation has developed technology enabling the computer and Internet revolution that has changed the world. Founded in 1968 to build semiconductor memory products, Intel introduced the world's first microprocessor in 1971. Today, Intel supplies the computing and communications industries with chips, boards, systems, and software building blocks that are the ingredients of computers, servers and networking and communications products. These products are used by industry members to create advanced computing and communications systems. Intel's mission is to do a great job for our customers, employees and stockholders by being the preeminent building block supplier to the worldwide digital economy.
Launching in 2016: The Welcome Group Program
The OD Network launched its NEW Welcome Group Program (WGP), serving new members and graduate/doctoral students in the OD Network on March 2nd. The first two cohorts filled quickly; don't miss the opportunity to participate in the next group. The program connects members to each other while exploring the Network, and was piloted in 2015 with high success. Participants meet virtually for three weeks (one 90 min session per week) to accomplish three tasks:
  • Identify their own professional needs (e.g., skills, learning, relationships);
  • Collaborate in exploring OD Network's available resources; and
  • Create peer-accountable action plans for getting the most out of their OD Network membership.
We’d like to invite you to participate!
To get a feel for the Welcome Group Program, here is a conversation shared by founders, Kris Lea, PsyD OD and Marco Cassone, MSOD.

Using Hootsuite to Manage Social Media
By: Jayne Corso
Managing multiple social media channels for your business or organization can be difficult because each social channel is on a separate site. Managing these sites can take a lot of time out of your day; Hootsuite is now the answer to manage social channels, including Twitter and Facebook. Hootsuite is a social media management tool that helps you monitor your social channels and track what people are saying in the field. I have compiled a few ways you can benefit from Hootsuite!
