The Fall 2025 Undergraduate Research Symposium, held on November 21, provided a platform for students to present their research milestones to the NYU Shanghai community while exchanging ideas and feedback with peers and faculty mentors. This year’s judges said they were impressed with the students’ rigor and dedication to their research.

• Congratulations to NYU Shanghai’s XCPC Club, who had an exceptional Fall 2025 season, earning three golds and two bronzes across several major ICPC regional programming contests from Harbin to Chengdu. Competing against top teams from Peking University, Tsinghua University, SJTU, and Fudan University, the students delivered top-level performances. Their results mark one of the club’s best semesters and strengthen NYU Shanghai’s growing presence in national competitive programming.

• Last Monday, the Medical Minds Club invited a panel of NYU Shanghai faculty, staff, and health professionals to speak on how we can take care of our bodies and minds to live well and live long. Featured speakers included Provost Bei Wu, Dr. Stephen Misch from the Student Health Center, Assistant Professor of Practice in Chemistry Vivian Chiu, Jeremy Liu and Mark Kang from the Athletics Department, and Dr. Agnieszka Kucharska-Bielewicz (Parkway Clinic). 

• On December 1, NYU Shanghai hosted the Workshop on Sovereign Debt and Development Finance, organized by Assistant Professor of Political Science Qian Jing, with co-organization support from the NYU Sovereign Debt Network, the Princeton Sovereign Finance Lab, and the PKU Analytics Lab for Global Risk Politics. Chancellor Tong Shijun delivered welcome remarks to open the event, which convened leading scholars and practitioners from institutions including NYU, Peking University, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the New Development Bank, Cornell University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Keio University, among others. The day featured a policy-focused roundtable, a research panel highlighting emerging scholarship in sovereign finance, and a session with editors from International Organization, Political Analysis, and Palgrave Macmillan.

On November 22, more than 80 NYU Shanghai students, faculty, and staff took part in the Eco Walking Challenge, hosted by the University and co-organized with the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science. This event is also an organic integration of NYU Global Walking Challenge, Walk the Road for Love, and the Chancellor’s Discover China Series. Starting from the New Bund campus, participants walked along the riverside and finished at State Grid Yingda. Along the route, they joined interactive games and talks on environmental protection—learning about low-carbon living while enjoying the city step by step.

• NYU Shanghai Holds Eco Walking Challenge
