What You Need to Know

Winter Wellness and Mental Health: The holiday season coupled with winter weather and the pandemic can be particularly challenging for health and wellness. The University of Oregon prioritizes the health and well-being of the UO community by offering resources to students and employees.
  • The Duck Nest through University Health Services (UHS) provides resources for students and employees spanning eight areas of wellness: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, financial, environmental, and occupational. Resources include sleep and exercise reminders, counseling options, and self-care tools.
  • Some on-campus programs or services may have schedule changes or reduced hours during winter break. The University Counseling Center’s after-hours support and crisis line is always available at 541-346-3227.
  • Human Resources has an array of health and wellness programs and seminars for employees.
MAP COVID-19 Testing Location Change: UO's Monitoring and Assessment Program (MAP) will have a new home for testing starting December 20. MAP is moving from Mathew Knight Arena and Ford Alumni Center to McArthur Court. The change in location should not affect testing hours, which have already shifted for winter break to Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
COVID-19 testing through MAP is free to UO students, UO employees, and the Lane County community. The MAP schedule is released each Wednesday for the following week. Appointments are strongly encouraged.

UO Vaccination Rates

Faculty and Staff: 95.3%
Students: 96.8%
The vaccination rate is updated on the COVID-19 Safety Dashboard every Monday. All UO faculty, staff, and students are required to be fully vaccinated or submit a vaccine exemption and undergo weekly testing. UO vaccination rates are a key measure in becoming a "fully vaccinated" campus under CDC guidelines for higher education.

Featured FAQ

Who should get a COVID-19 booster shot and does it need to be the same type of vaccine I received previously?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends individuals over 18 get a booster shot:
  • At least 6 months after the second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
  • At least 2 months after the initial dose of a Johnson and Johnson/Janssen vaccine.
Teens aged 16-17 can get a booster shot if it has been at least 6 months since completing their primary vaccination series.

According to the CDC, any COVID-19 vaccine authorized in the US can be used as a booster shot for individuals over 18 regardless of the initial vaccine type (Pfizer, Moderna, J&J). Teens ages 16-17 can get a Pfizer vaccine booster shot.
