Nancy Wheeler ’19 is the definition of the Emersonian spirit. Beginning her journey in the late ’80s, she pursued journalism, reportedly helped save the world in Hawkins, Indiana, and later returned to Emerson to complete her degree in 2019. Let the lore roar!

Amber McBride, MFA ’13, was awarded the 2025 National Book Award for her novel The Leaving Room. Her work stands out for its artistic excellence and powerful voice, marking a significant milestone in her literary career.
