Message from the Associate Dean and Extension Director

Next Monday 27 May, Decoration Day -- now known as Memorial Day -- is traditionally celebrated by adorning the graves of U.S. Service Members killed in battle and memorializing them with parades, services, and ceremonies.

All of us should take some time this coming weekend to remember the many men and women who have died in the act of preserving our American freedoms and defending democracy around the world.

Memorial Day is commonly considered as the start of summer for many people, and I hope the long weekend offers you a chance to relax and spend some time with family and friends.

I encourage everyone in the Arizona Cooperative Extension System to take the time and enjoy the long weekend, and whatever you do, it is most important that you do it safely.

Welcome Nate Brawley to UA Cooperative Extension

Nate Brawley is the new Assistant in Extension in livestock production in Graham and Greenlee Counties.  He is a third generation rancher from southeastern Arizona, and says he grew up with a lot of experiences that have taught him the value of hard work.

"Along with my education, I've been blessed to be around great men and women in the livestock industry," Nate says. He says he looks forward to creating positive relationships with the producers in Graham and Greenlee Counties.

Welcome, Nate!

National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science 2019 Hall of Fame Recipient

Ruth C. Jackson, FCHS Agent, Emeritus, will be inducted into the NEAFCS 2019 Hall of Fame at their Annual Conference this coming fall in Hershey, PA.  Her dedication to her community in Maricopa County, to Arizona, and nationally throughout her many years of service to help families improve their lives through health, nutrition, and physical activity education has been a labor of love and commitment.  We stand with you and we congratulate you, Ruth, in this very well-deserved honor!
