Be Aware - Scam Alert!

The Maryland Attorney General has issued a Consumer Alert: telephone scammers are spoofing local hospitals and public utilities to steal personal information, as well as threatening to terminate medicare benefits. These calls may appear legitimate on your Caller ID. Never give any personal information to a caller you do not know or on a call you did not initiate. 
Medicare does not request personal information about you by telephone. If you think that there is a problem with your Medicare benefits, call Medicare at 1.800.Medicare (1.800.633.4227). TTY users can call 1.877.486.2048. Click here for more information.

Now Scheduling Vaccination Appointments for Ages 12+

The Pfizer vaccine is now authorized for use in children ages 12+.  For people ages 18 and older, the Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J  vaccines are readily available state and county-wide. Some vaccination sites even welcome walk-ins.

Maryland Unemployment Insurance News

Temporary federal pandemic unemployment benefit programs end in Maryland on July 3, 2021. Maryland will opt out of the following four temporary federal unemployment insurance (UI) programs:  Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC), and Mixed Earners Unemployment Compensation (MEUC).  Click here to learn more. 

RELIEF is in Sight

The pandemic is easing, but health concerns left in its wake are both physical and economic. Thanks to the RELIEF Act passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by Gov. Hogan, $83 million is on its way from The Maryland Public Service Commission to Maryland utilities to help customers with past-due bills. Click here to learn more.  

Flex Service Returning

Flex On-Demand bus service is back, beginning July 19.  Please note that all passengers are required to wear face coverings at all times on public transportation. In addition, MCDOT will continue the Ride On free shuttle to the Germantown Mass Vaccination Site.
