RACE MATTERS  At the 2018 Race and Pedagogy National Conference, Alicia Garza and Patrisse Kahn-Cullors (pictured), two of the three co-founders of the Black Lives Matter Global Network, shared a message of empowerment, agency, and hope. Held every four years, the conference is hosted by Puget Sound’s Race & Pedagogy Institute (RPI), whose mission is to educate students and teachers at all levels to think critically about race and act to eliminate racism. An extension of RPI's Race Matters discussion series, Race Matters: Continuing the Conversation, provides space for courageous conversations using interdisciplinary approaches to discussing race.
