Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Observance
The Office of Student Diversity Programs extends an invitation for you to join us for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Observance. This is a free event for YSU faculty, staff, students, and community members from the surrounding area. Our observance will take place on January 16, 2020, at 12:30pm - 1:30pm in the Kilcawley Center Chestnut Room at YSU. Keynote remarks will be given this year by Pastor Juan Rivera. Pastor Rivera and his wife, Deidre are campus pastors at Victory Christian Center in Coitsville, Ohio and he serves on the National Hispanic Leadership Coalition, Hispanic-Israel Leadership Coalition and the Ohio Commission of Hispanic/Latino Affairs.

The event is designed to recognize faculty, staff, students, and community members who exemplify Martin Luther King, Jr.’s values of service and dedication to YSU and the surrounding community. Individuals can be nominated for the following four awards:

- Campus Leadership: Recognizes a faculty member, staff member, or an administrator who demonstrates a commitment to service and inclusion at YSU or in the community.
- Community Leadership: Recognizes an individual from a business, group, agency, organization, or community initiative that demonstrates a commitment to service and inclusion in the community.
- Student Leadership: Recognizes a current, upper-division YSU student (junior, senior, or graduate) who demonstrates a commitment to service and inclusion at YSU or in the community.
- Emerging Leader: Recognizes a current, lower-division YSU student (freshman or sophomore) who demonstrates a commitment to service and inclusion at YSU or in the community.

Come join your fellow Penguins in Kilcawley Center on Monday, December 9 from 10:00pm to 12:00am, as we enjoy your breakfast favorites to kick off finals week.
The event is free to all current YSU students and will take place in the Chestnut Room. There will be an omelet station to craft your dream breakfast creation as well as entertainment for your enjoyment. It will be a great way to break up all the time of studying and give your body the energy it needs to finish the semester strong!

Time to celebrate! After a long, fall semester, what better way to relieve the stress of preparing for finals than by having a song and a dance with those who mean the most to you? Join Student Activities at one of the fan favorite traditions - Dueling Pianos.The event will take place Friday, December 6 from 8:00pm - 11:00pm. It will be held downtown on the second floor of The Federal, located at 110 W Federal Street. Sing your heart out and enjoy all your favorites at this all request show!

Relieve Some Stress Before Finals
Campus Recreation is offering these stress relief activities throughout finals week:
Stitch & B*tch Monday, December 9 | 5:00pm – 7:00pm will take place in the Lobby, Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Stop by and learn how to stitch and let off some steam of finals week.
IM 3 Point Challenge Tuesday, December 10 | 10:00am – 2:00pm located at Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center basketball courts. Set up similar to the 3-Point Contest during NBA All-Star weekend, come to the courts at the Rec Center and show your skills from behind the arc.
Color & Cocoa Tuesday, December 10 | 11:00am – 1:00pm located at Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center's lobby. Come explore your creative side and warm up with a luscious mug of cocoa at Campus Rec’s “Color & Cocoa” event! Color along to create a masterpiece all while forgetting the woes of finals, and get a free cup of cocoa!
Relief Massages Wednesday, December 11 | 10:00am – 2:00pm at Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center's Meditation Studio. What better way to end the semester than with a relaxing massage? The primary purpose is to help you relax and de-stress. There are substantial health benefits to a relaxation massage, including calming the nervous system and promoting a sense of well-being! Spots will be available every ten minutes.

| FAFSA and Scholarship Application Deadline
It’s that time of year again! Be sure to submit your FAFSA and Scholarship Application. You must complete the FAFSA each year.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year became available on October 1, which means you can already be filing for financial aid assistance for next year! Log in to www.studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa to complete your application.
You will be required to provide the following:
- FSA ID (username and password) for you, and a parent, if you are considered a dependent student.
Not sure what your FSA ID is? Go to fsaid.ed.gov to recover and reset your username and password.
- 2018 tax information for you, and a parent, if you are considered a dependent student.
The deadline for FAFSA priority award consideration is February 15, 2020.

Scholarship Opportunity
Campus Recreation is happy to announce two new $1,000 scholarships just for working out with us!
This is a twelve-week program where participants will need to be active through Campus Rec at least four days a week for ten of the twelve weeks. This can include swiping into the Andrews Rec Center, participating in a special event, playing intramurals, or participating in club sports.
At the end of the program everyone who has participated will submit a two minute video about how participating in this program has improved their overall well-being. Then two participants will be selected based on their video entry to win a scholarship. The deadline to register is January 24.
More information will be available on the Campus Recreation site soon, so stay tuned!

Late Night Hours at Maag Library
Nothing says Finals Week quite like that feeling of knowing you will be up late cramming every last piece of information from the semester before the test. Why not get out in front of it and get to Maag this week?
With finals approaching, now is the time to complete those projects and kick off your studying in a convenient location. YSU’s academic support units (MAC, CSP, WC and more) are teaming up with the library, SGA, and the Rec Center to offer extra hours of tutoring, workshops, and stress relief. FREE!
Keep that momentum rolling and finish the semester and the decade on a high note as we roll into the 20s and spring semester!

Finals Week Childcare
Need some extra time to get studying done or need someone to watch your children while you ace your finals? Wee Care Day Care is here to help!
Wee Care offers flexible scheduling and a convenient on-campus location so you can set up that extra study session you need.
With hourly rates of $11 for YSU students it’s a safe and convenient way to know your child is cared for while you hit the books. Wee Care is located in Fedor Hall and has child care hours available from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Friday. Call ahead to register your child and save your spot for finals week study time. Call 330-941-2936 or email us by December 6.
Children must be registered in order to utilize this service. The registration process is waived for children only attending Wee Care for this week.
