Getting Ready for Annual Session:
A Letter from Our Clerk to Committees
|
Annual Session registration is now open and planning is in full swing! As we turn our attention to the community business we will conduct together in July/August, BYM Presiding Clerk Steph Bean has written a letter to Committees, Working Groups, and Representatives to Outside Organizations reminding them of how we prepare for Annual Session. The letter will be emailed directly to Committee Clerks later this afternoon. Every BYM Committee, Working Group, and Representative to an Affiliated Organization needs to complete three tasks before Annual Session:
- Prepare an Annual Report by July 7, 2025.
- Determine if you have any agenda items to bring to Annual Session and submit them to YMclerk@bym-rsf.org by June 21, 2025. Groups bringing agenda items will also be required to submit an Advance Report by July 7, 2025.
-
Identify who will serve as Clerk of your Committee or Working Group for the 2025-2026 program year by August 1, 2025.
Questions about Annual Session? Reach out! For business details, contact YMclerk@bym-rsf.org. For information about the program and other logistics, contact LindaJCoates@gmail.com. Need help with registeration? Email Admin@bymr-sf.org or call the office at 301-774-7663.

National Reparations Rally, May 17
|
Please join members of BYM’s Reparations Action Working Group between 11:00 and 5:00 at the rally. RAWG’s goal is to support the reparations movement with our presence, and while we are there, learn a lot more about what is happening in this movement, and learn more about what Friends can do to give further, ongoing support. Reparations has the real potential to bring justice, equity, and peace to our country, now so deeply divided by racism. For questions and to meet up for the rally, please contact RAWG at reparations@bym-rsf.org or friendmarcy@gmail.com

Congratulations, Graduating Friends!
|
It's graduation season, and in addition to our many Young Friends graduating high school and college over the next few weeks, several BYM Friends are completing Quaker-related graduate studies this spring. BYM staff member Lucy Azenga (Stony Run/Baltimore Friends Church) graduated with a Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership from Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas. Dr. Windy Cooler (Sandy Spring) graduated as a Doctor of Ministry from Lancaster Theological Seminary, and Sarah Gillooly (Adelphi) is preparing to graduate next weekend with a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care from Earlham School of Religion. Congratulations, graduates!
Is your Young Friend graduating from high school or college this spring? Send us their first name, graduating institution, meeting, and a photo to admin@bym-rsf.org for a special celebration in an upcoming Weekly Announcements!

An Epistle from the Quakers and Indian Boarding Schools Research Network
|
Paula Palmer of Boulder Meeting offered this epistle on behalf of this "research network." This group formed in late 2022 with a purpose of thoroughly researching 19th-century Quaker involvement in assimilationist boarding schools, and making their findings accessible to Native American families and tribes and to the Religious Society of Friends. The Epistle reflects on their work and learnings over the past 2+ years. The epistle includes a list of resources.
