Stagger loan refunds: Divide your loan refund by the months it needs to last (fall 4.5, spring 4.5, summer 3), then subtract a little extra to build a savings cushion to cover unexpected gaps between disbursements. By doing this, you are ensuring you have enough funds to last until the end of each semester.
If you are anticipating refunds to assist with rental payments, discuss disbursement timelines with your landlord to make them aware of potential delays in payments for the first month of each semester.
