Nominate Students for the Student Leadership Council
|

Do you have a student who wants to give back to the speech and debate community? Nominate them for the Student Leadership Council (SLC)! The SLC creates resources and provides feedback throughout the year to improve the NSDA student experience. This is a unique way to influence the organization’s future and an excellent addition to any student’s resume. Nominate an interested student by February 15!

The Springboard Capstone event is an online tournament hosted by the NSDA on Saturday, December 6. Enjoy all of the benefits of a weekend tournament without bus travel or entry fees! This is a chance for your students to demonstrate everything they have learned throughout the fall and celebrate their achievements in speech and debate! To register, sign up through the Springboard Capstone Registration page by Thursday, December 4.

Advocating for a Speech and Debate Class at Your School
|
Offering a speech and debate class can give your program stability, increase participation, and offer greater work/life balance. As the budgeting and planning season approaches, our self-paced NSDA Learn course will help you prepare to advocate for a class. When you enroll online for free, you'll learn to:
- Showcase student and family interest.
- Demonstrate how a class helps your school achieve its goals.
- Determine the positioning and structure of your course.

Make a pitch incorporating data and student voices.
- Plan for the year ahead if your request is granted or prepare to adjust your pitch if your request is tabled.

Encourage Students to Submit Legislation for the National Congress
|
Calling all congressional debaters! Let your ideas shine and leave your mark on the 2026 National Tournament when your submit your original legislation for the docket. Any high school or middle school NSDA member student, no matter your national qualification status, can directly submit their original legislation for the 2026 National Speech & Debate Tournament in Richmond, Virginia. If selected you will receive:
- Recognition in Rostrum
- An award after the tournament
- A $100 scholarship
Don't miss this opportunity to make your voice heard on a national platform! Submissions are due by February 5.
