A New Year and A Simple Start by Mark A. Nehra, CFP^®

2025 is upon us.  The New Year brought some changes that can impact many of us.

The first is retirement savings in a 401(k) plan.  The contribution limit has increased, the catch-up contribution for those 50 and older has increased, and, as part of the Secure Act 2.0, employees aged 60-63 can make an additional catch-up contribution,  The changes also apply to participants in 403(b) plans and most 457 plans.  We are happy to help you understand how these changes can impact you.

Those who have Medicare Part D prescription plans will see dramatic changes to their out-of-pocket costs.  Gone are the dreaded multiple tiers and “donut hole.”  Now, once the plan deductible is met, there is a single out-of-pocket limit.  Once the limit is exceeded, catastrophic coverage takes hold.  In most instances, the enrollee does not have any further costs.

Lastly, the 2017 Tax Act is due to sunset at the end of 2025.  A consistent theme in our newsletters is “the time to do tax planning is not when you are doing your tax return.”  Although none of us can know for certain what the outcome will be in 2025, we stand ready to help guide you throughout the year so that you are best equipped to handle it.

Black Diamond is collaborating with Madelyn Wright as she undertakes a mission to train local educators and first responders on the principles of Trust Based Relational Intervention^® (TBRI^®). Her aim is to positively influence youth who have been affected by traumatic relationships and events during their formative years.
