Members have access to Hill+Knowlton monitoring reports If you are an ATMIA Canada member, you probably know that Hil+Knowlton provides us with services to monitor legislative and other political activities. Each quarter, a report is created that summarizes proposed new laws that may impact the ATM industry – either positively or negatively. What some of you may not be aware of, is that the H+K quarterly report is available to every ATMIA Canada member.
A high level summary of the most important news will lead off each report. The last report noted media and public attention to concerns over COVID-19 driving even traditional cash-intensive businesses toward other forms of payment.
A 'News & Developing Issues' segment covered a broad range of topics, including ATM crime, cash advocacy, and open banking. Media reports identified the locations of a number of ATM thefts. A number of articles report opinions claiming that the 'cashless society' is essentially upon us. And news of the onward march of 'open banking'.
The bulk of the report monitors political activity – on the federal level, as well as province by province. As an example:
The Canada United Small Business Relief Fund, which is managed by the OCC, is supporting Canadian businesses across different sectors and industries with grants of up to $5,000. These grants will help thousands of small business owners cover the costs of personal protective equipment, make physical modifications to their businesses to meet local health and safety requirements, and enhance their digital or e-commerce capabilities.
New Hill+Knowlton reports are announced as they arrive. To review the most recent H+K report, click here. You will be asked to login to your ATMIA Canada account. H+K reports are available to ATMIA members only.
