Dear Friend,
In 2017, Student Government Association partnered with university officials to establish a fall break. This year, our first ever Fall Break will be observed on Monday and Tuesday, October 14th and 15th. I would encourage students to use the time as an opportunity to reflect on your academic success thus far. Take a full inventory of your participation in campus life and campus events, or use this time for some much-needed rest and relaxation.
The month of October also brings with it beautiful foliage, colder temperatures, and- most importantly- our annual homecoming events! We will cheer our Penguins on to victory against South Dakota State, crown a new Homecoming king and queen, and award a monetary prize to the best parade float marching up 5th Avenue during the parade. (And kudos to the City of Youngstown for making the street available for us!) This year’s Homecoming theme is “All the Penguins” and highlights the essence of who we are. We waddle to YSU from different places throughout the state, the nation, and the world, but in the end we are all part of this great community.
As always, thanks for you continued support of the Division of Student Experience, and Go Penguins!
Respectfully,

HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE AND ALUMNI
| |
Return to Residence for AlumniIn spring of 1973, this residence hall room in Kilcawley House was occupied by YSU quarterback Ron Jaworski. During the stop in his old room, Jaworski reminisced on his days as a Penguin. He even shared the story of when he recieved the phone call notifying him he had been drafted to the NFL on the payphone located at the end of his hallway. Since then, Jaworski has appeared across the networks covering the game he loves. He is pictured with fellow YSU almuni and former teammate with the Philadelphia Eagles, Paul McFadden. Ron Jaworski was on campus speaking to students about how to prepare for a life in sports media.
