nature-based solutions
Against the gloomy backdrop of record temperatures, rising emissions and corporate backpedaling on climate commitments, some 100,000 people descended this week on New York City for Climate Week.  CFN staff were pleased to join with Duke University's Nicholas Institute and Quantified Ventures in mounting a well-attended session for investors on nature-based solutions (thanks to Bloomberg for hosting).  We also attended informative sessions at the Rockefeller and Doris Duke Foundations, including panel discussions at the latter on restoration hosted by 1t.org.  Despite continuing concern about the slumping voluntary carbon credit market, there was enthusiasm about the role nature can play in combatting the climate crisis.
