Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Mac Huang whose "Introduction to Math Modeling," previously named as a Shanghai Municipal Level First-Class Undergraduate Course, has now been selected as one of the third batch of China National-Level First-Class Undergraduate Courses. This is the first time an undergraduate course from NYU Shanghai has received a national-level teaching award in China.

Sun Xiang was selected as a recipient of the 2025 Young Scientists Fund (Category B). Professor of Accounting
Sterling Huang was awarded the Research Fund for International Excellent Young Scientists (RFIS-II). Professor of Practice in Mathematics

Vahagn Nersesyan, and Assistant Professor of Data Science

• Over an action-packed week in July, more than 40 students from ECNU, NYU, and NYUSH attended the
2025 Summer School on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for the Molecular Sciences. Faculty and researchers guided students through hands-on exercises and presented a series of technical lectures and talks focused on the fundamentals of modern machine learning as well as the mechanisms behind advanced models, including diffusion models, generative flow networks, and large language models.
• Last Friday’s QilinFest and Farnival brought joy to all with a day of outdoor festivities and fun. Students, staff, faculty, and their families competed in carnival games to win prizes, enjoyed a variety of snacks, participated in a water fight, and got to know their new peers. Thanks to
Human Resources who contributed their time and energy to make such happy memories. Check out the

• NYU Shanghai's
Staff Council launched its "AI as Life and Work Partner" series on August 15. Chang Pan from IT unveiled new tools like the “All in One” Corporate WeChat ChatBot for community inquiries and upcoming AI for Admissions and for contract review. Adrian Hodge from the Library showcased the “Ask Series” chatbots (Ask Angie/Roary) and AI-integrated mini-courses.
• Over the summer,
Community Engaged Learning and faculty led an
immersive learning trip for 10 NYU Shanghai and 10 NYU students to Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. From molding clay in hands-on ceramics workshops to meeting local artists and exploring centuries of porcelain tradition, students experienced firsthand how art, history, and culture come together in this remarkable city.
