Sunita Jain Initiative to Address Assembly on Trafficking Issues
The Sunita Jain Anti-Trafficking Initiative (SJI) will provide policy and budgetary recommendations that aim to address human trafficking in an intersectional approach during a California State Assembly hearing to be held at 9 a.m. PST on Tuesday, Feb. 8, which is also International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking. Speakers from LLS are set to include Stephanie Richard, Director, Rights in Systems Enforced (RISE) Clinic; Sabrina Talukder, SJI Director of Federal Policy; and Joseph Villela, SJI Director of State Policy, They will be joined by survivors of human trafficking and others in presenting the critical need to shift from a carceral to an intersectional approach to human trafficking to strengthen public safety efforts. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the hearing via live webstream.

Screening 'Belly of the Beast'
Join Professor Eric Miller, co-director of the Loyola Anti-Racism Center and Policing Los Angeles Forum series, on Feb. 17 as he hosts a screening of "Belly of the Beast," a documentary film captured over seven years that features extraordinary access and intimate accounts from currently and formerly incarcerated people. The film looks at the history of eugenics and reproductive injustice in the United States. Details forthcoming.

- Testing: Members of the campus community are advised to get retested within one week of their return to campus for the spring semester. And all members of the campus community are strongly encouraged to test weekly. This helps ensure the health and safety of all on our campus and all LMU campuses. The LLS COVID Testing Center is open with appointments required.
- Masks are required to be worn at all times in all indoor public spaces of the LLS campus. Students, faculty and staff should wear surgical or medical grade masks while on campus. LLS Campus Community members may obtain masks meeting these criteria at the Information Center, Career Development Office, Office of Student Affairs and William M. Rains Library. Library patrons will receive warnings for not masking, with three warnings resulting in loss of privileges.
