This Week: Active Threat Drills on Horizon
As part of routine emergency preparedeness, there is an active threat drill scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.
University Emergency Management is partnering with the LAPD to host a university-wide active threat drill, helping to ensure that all have the knowledge and tools they need to respond. On Feb. 20, faculty, staff, and students will receive an LMU/LLS Alert at 11:30 a.m. (and again at 6:45 p.m. for those with evening classes), announcing the start of the drill. Once you receive the alert, you should stop what you’re doing and think through the options of how you’d react in a real-life situation:
- Where are your exits?
- How would you barricade a door?
- What improvised weapons do you have nearby to disarm the shooter?
Reminder: LMU/LLS Alert notifications update members of the community with important information on campus impacts during emergencies or other situations. Members of the community are strongly urged to include their cell phone number(s) among their emergency contacts so they may receive text alerts. See the LLS Alert page for information on reviewing and updating your information.
